H & M Arm Trap

Yesterday I really dug deep and challenged myself and wore a shirt that I haven't worn for YEARS.  I probably bought it in 2008 or 2009.  For some reason, the fresh, summery, all American look of this shirt has caused me to keep it around all this time without actually wearing it more than a few times back in the early years.

It is a plaid button up that is a bit long and has a little belt around the waist.  It does look cute enough in the picture but I think this is one item that I might be done with.  The first problem is that it is from H&M, which is a store geared toward youthful teens so it is cut for a youthful teen or college student.  Which I am not.  It did fit, but that top button, if you can see, is straining.  Also, I am not really into emphasizing my waist at the moment (in case you somehow missed it, 2 kids in 2 years!) which is exactly what a tie belt does.

The main problem, however, is that it is made of a loosely woven cotton.  It is not bias cut, but it almost feels like it in the way it pulls and constrains.  In it, it felt like my arms were in one of these fun little novelties:

That's a Chinese finger trap, or at least the safe party favor version of one.  Who wants to wear one of those on their arms?  Not me!

I also wore a rediscovered pair of shoes when I went out in this shirt but they can be for another post!  Are you on the edge of your seat, obsessively clicking "refresh"?  I thought so.
